Bespoke hand-crafted trophy designs by Charred Wood UK
Our Northumbrian Winner’s trophies are beautifully hand-crafted by Charred Wood UK, a Northumberland-based family business.
The company source the wood from the Scottish Borders and pick out high-quality kiln-dried hardwoods such as Beech, Sycamore, and Cherry with lots of character and detail in the grain. Chris Ewing is a self-taught pyrographer, and carefully preps the wood, choosing and cutting the pieces to highlight the detail of the wood and match it with the theme and mood of the artwork he is burning onto it. He uses pyrography pens and blowtorches to create a range of designs, mostly inspired by British nature and local wildlife and attractions.
Chris turned a hobby into a profession alongside his wife, Carolina, who attends local fairs and markets in the area selling his artwork. Several of Chris’s pieces feature landmarks, castles, iconic images and skylines of Northumberland and the region. “We are based in and inspired by Northumberland and the county features regularly on our pieces,” reads their website.
